What can I use to clean leather tennis shoes besides shoe cleaner?

Is there any household product that I can use to clean white leather tennis shoes?

What can I use to clean leather tennis shoes besides shoe cleaner?
If they aren't too dirty, you can just use Dawn and hot water with a toothbrush or nail brush. If they are stained a little, add a small amount of bleach to a cup of water with some Dawn in it. I have always used these methods since my husband owns (and gets dirty) about 7 pairs of leather tennis shoes.
Reply:clean with detergent
Reply:COVER THEM IN SOCKS AND WASH THEM IN YOUR WASHING MACHINE WITH REGULAR WASHING SOAP. WORKS LIKE A CHARM.
Reply:Soda, try Coke. You don't want cheap store brand. Just pour it on and scrub it with a brush.
Reply:you can use warm water and soap however depending on how soiled the shoes are I wouldn't recommend going cheap like that. Also depending on what type of soil or dirt you have on the shoe is a factor because leather will sort of rot if you do wash the shoe. Just go out and buy some shoe cleaner; will save you a bunch of headaches in the long run.
Reply:Wet the napkin and put some detergent on the napkin. and clean with it. (I have leather shoes too)
Reply:two table spoons of mayo and two cups of vinegar. mix till mayo is liquid.
Reply:Try vinegar
Reply:Wash in the sink with liquid detergent (laundry or dish) using a soft brush inside and out. Spin dry in the washing machine. Dry in the sun.
Reply:Put your shoes inside wash machine on Gentle setting use regular detergerent as usually. If the shoe is white you can use white vinegar
Reply:Believe it or not, I wash mine in the washing machine. I let them 'soak' for a while with normal laundry soap. ('Liquid' is best.) I use the 'regular' cycle for a few minutes; then put it to 'gentle'. A LITTLE bit of bleach has never hurt them. I also add some old rags or a throw rug to keep them from getting 'scraped up'. (I one time put a pair in two old pillow cases; one shoe in each.) Use WARM water. Warm dryer ,or no dryer (the Sun is good...), and that's it! Unless the shoes are 'embellished' (I had a pair that had a holographic sort of thing...) they really SHOULD be O.K! SERIOUSLY!!! I've ALWAYS done this -with my shoes and my kids'! Just use COMMON SENSE...it's white leather you said, so be 'gentle'! :)
Reply:Bleach
Reply:Baby wipes are the best shoe cleaner around - try it!!!
Reply:If you have some saddle soap that will work and it will keep the leather soft.
Reply:Lestoil (cleanser) or Murphy's Oil Soap. . .does wonders.
