Is there a difference between Tennis shoes and sneakers?

I am thinking of buying tennis shoes but I am wondering if it is worth the money.

The bottom of tennis shoes, for court use only, have great bottoms for lateral movement. Whereas plain sneakers might not have as good as support. Also, you can sprain your ankle with running shoes. Reply:i've noticed that too.. I think in the East coast they call it sneakers. In the West they call it tennis shoes. I'm not used to calling them tennis shoes.

Reply:Sneakers is a generic term for athletic shoes; whereas tennis shoes are meant (or made) to be worn when playing tennis.
Reply:Tennis shoes are made for tennis. Sneakers is just a generic term to decribe shoes that are in the design of 'sport shoes'. Shoe makers make sport shoes specific for all sports, with treads and structure designed for that particular sport.





Some manufacturers make only for "fashion" and have no useful 'sporting' function.
Reply:Tennis shoes just mean that the soles are flat so they will not leave any scuff marks on the court, As you become a better player you can learn to slide on hard courts also and you need the flat soles. So if you are a tennis player I recommend them very highly.
Reply:Tennis shoes don't have defined soles. The bottom of the shoes are smooth so if you're playing on a clay tennis court, you don't scuff it up.





Sneakers have bottoms with traction. The bottoms will be rough so if you're running around, you have extra traction and don't fall down.
