What difference does it make? The main difference is that basketball shoes are high tops (to support the ankles). Maybe she needs the extra ankle support that basketball shoes offer.

Even if she has a sponsor, she just has to wear that brand of shoe. Sponsors don't dictate which style of shoe they wear (high tops, etc.). She needs to wear whichever type is best for her physically.

For the previous poster....I'm sure she's wearing whatever shirts are comfortable too. As far as her hair goes, she's a tennis player, not a model/actor/etc., you want her to get some fancy up-do just to play tennis?

Edit: Who are you to say what she should spend her money on? Maybe she's being smart and saving/investing for the future. Sports won't support her forever you know.
Reply:Dear,

Bethanie play for her game win nor for other adv. she whar her own convience and provider satisfaction . the pro match was conducted at grevel silk ground to aviod silperrey in sport the win is only goal not a dress. so we cant say its silly. when we honour the sportsprit than we cant see any fault.

Thanks.
Reply:At first I thought it borderline insane, but then I learned she doesn't have a sponser or the money to buy them, so she just wears whatever's on sale. I mean, she could at least wear a few nicer shirts, though. And fix up her hair a bit. But after hearing her at an intreview she sounds really sweet, so I can look past the very bizzare outfit!
Reply:Bethanie Mattek is the worst-dressed player on the tour. She looks like a bag lady in some of her ridiculous outfits. She says she likes making fashion statements on the court, but all she is telling me is "Look I got dressed in the dark again!"
Reply:i applaud her myself. she obviously does her own thing which is a nice thing considering tennis these days is dictated so much by corporate contracts and marketing ploys. if she feels they're more comfortable to her so be it. basketball sneaks are actually pretty similar to tennis sneaks--they are court shoes afterall. although on clay one does need special shoes if you can't slide well. and her dress is her thing.....she obviously doesn't benefit from the label sponsors so she has to create her own.

and i applaud her for keeping in mind her financial conservation....imagine the money it takes to travel so much on this tour....especially these days. and she's not consistent enough to garner herself a nice income like players in the top 20 and higher.
