Sneakers or Tennis Shoes? What do you call them & Where did you grow up? I'm from the midwest I say Sneakers

My husband Grew up in California he calls them Tennis shoes. I%26#039;m from Wisconsin and call them sneakers. He thinks that the word Sneaker is some old fashioned out of date word or only people from the Mid-West say %26quot;Sneakers%26quot;. I wonder what do most people call them? Also can you tell us where you grew up to determine if it is really where you live that determines what you call them.

Anyone know the history if why we call them Sneakers...It is a wierd word

Sneakers or Tennis Shoes? What do you call them %26amp; Where did you grow up? I%26#039;m from the midwest I say Sneakers
-I still call my Nike%26#039;s %26quot;Tennis Shoes%26quot;! I think the word %26quot;Sneakers%26quot; come from the fact that the shoes have rubber soles, so no one can hear you %26quot;sneak about%26quot; ha-ha! I grew up in Oklahoma. I am a 60%26#039;s child! Good question!
Reply:Sneakers. New York.

And if you didn%26#039;t have the P.F. Flyers, man, you couldn%26#039;t do nuthin%26#039;!
Reply:I used to call them sneakers, now I call them tennis shoes. I am not sure when I switched., probably when I took up tennis in the mid sixties. I am from the SE (northcentral Florida). I am over fifty.
Reply:I actually say both %26quot;tennis shoes%26quot; and %26quot;sneakers%26quot;. To me, those words are interchangeable.

I find that the older I get, I more often call them running shoes.

I grew up in Ohio and Indiana.
Reply:Tennis shoes and sneakers aren%26#039;t the same thing.
Reply:I grew up in St. Louis and I always called them tennis shoes.

Can I dry tennis shoes by putting them into a clothes dryer?

I%26#039;ve got soaking wet tennis shoes - stepped out of my car last night into 10 inches of water. My problem is that I need to use these shoes today. Can I toss them into a regular clothes dryer without melting them? Shrinking them?

Can I dry tennis shoes by putting them into a clothes dryer?
Yep you can only not competely a material shoe (a small amount of material won%26#039;t matter). Firstly stuff them with dry socks, this will stop them from shrinking, now really stuff them tight, then put them into a pillow case and tie it at the top, this makes sure they don%26#039;t get damaged from being thrown around the dryer. Turn it on lowest heat setting, if you don%26#039;t have a heat setting just turn it off every 10-15 mins and let them cool for 5.

By the way if they are a completely material shoe forget it, they%26#039;ll shrink and loose thier shape, just stuff them wiht newspaper and place on a radiator or in hot press and hope they dry quickly...!

You should be good to go!
Reply:Yes you can, just put a pillow case over them so that they don%26#039;t melt
Reply:stick them in a pillow case
Reply:Yes you can or u can hang them out on the washing line. Susie
Reply:Turn your dyer on AIR. That way you won%26#039;t shrink them or melt them.
Reply:Just let them air dry. The dryer will shrink them and damage the insoles....
Reply:Yes but they will be tight when you frist put them on.
Reply:You can put them in a clothes dryer it will dry to a certain extent but then you might have to dry it out for sometime in the sun, no sun then try a Hair Dryer.

Washing your tennis shoes?

What%26#039;s a good way to wash tennis shoes that are white but not ALL white and have those gray/silver reflecting details on them?

Washing your tennis shoes?
It%26#039;ll be fine if you throw them in the washer.. Seriously, I do it all the time. I spray shout all over them, too.. I have the shoes with gray/silvery stuff on it too.. If you dry them, though, put it on low heat, just so you don%26#039;t mess them up.
Reply:Do them by hand with some detergent, a soft cloth and a nail brush or something soft like that.

DON%26#039;T put them into the water completely as this rots the glue and stitching but just use the cloth to clean the outsides bit by bit. The soft brush is for the stubborn bits or any cloth parts.
Reply:i no its wierd but on white shoes try using that tide spot stuff that you normally get for stains on ur shirt. it works on sneakers good
Reply:i usually use a damp towel or black sock and just dap a little water on it and rub out the stains.
Reply:dont worry to much just trow them in the washer!

Can I wear volleyball court shoes on the tennis court?

I bought a pair of court shoes thinking they were tennis shoes turns out they were volleyball shoes. can i wear them on the tennis court. whats the difference just wondering

?

Can I wear volleyball court shoes on the tennis court?
They should be fine for a while. Soles of tennis shoes generally lasts longer since they are made to withstand all kinds of surfaces. If you look at the ridges on the soles of the shoes, they are made for traction specifically for the movements on the tennis court. Volleyball shoes don%26#039;t have that characteristic. There is not enough lateral support on the volleyball shoes either. If you just started playing, those shoes should work alright. If you are into the sport hardcore, you should get the shoes that specifically is made for tennis. In the long run, the tennis shoes would protect you and your feet
Reply:Since they are non marking wearing them should be fine
Reply:As long as they don%26#039;t leave a mark on the court you will be allowed to wear them. Many volleyball shoes provide adequate side support, but you should see if your volleyball shoes have this. If it lacks side support, then lateral movement might be awkward.
Reply:so long as there non marking, they should be fine.

make sure they%26#039;re comfy though
Reply:Volley ball shoes are bascally made to handle indoor sports like bad minton or raquet ball whereas tennis is played indoors, outdoors,on clay, grass, carpet,or hard courts if the shoe fits and your comfortable in them ,wear them.
Reply:I%26#039;m pretty sure it doesnt matter as much, as long as your comfortable. I have a friend who play in DC%26#039;s and he seems fine with it...but sometimes our coach tells him to get regular tennis shoes, but thats only because our club is strict(we have to wear all white all the time..ugh i hate it) but yah as long as your comfortable and you can play in them.

The pronuncition of tennis shoes?

when you say %26quot; tennis shoes%26quot;,does it sound like tenni shoes?

The pronuncition of tennis shoes?
Yes if your enunciation is sloppy...and there%26#039;s a lot of it about! It is possible to pronounce the %26quot;s%26quot; at the end of tennis separately from the %26quot;sh%26quot; at the start of shoes if you make the effort.
Reply:My mom called them %26quot;tennys%26quot; or %26quot;tennies%26quot;...how do you spell in slang?!? I call them tennis shoes but I tell my boys to put on their %26quot;tennys%26quot;. So, for me...both.

Do you say greasy or greazy...as it reference to a good cheeseburger?
Reply:I suppose it depends on what part of the country you come from. Pronunciation is different in different places. Like saying tomato, some say toe-mato others say toe- mahto. I say tennis-shoes and my diction comes from the Pennsylvania area. So I guess what I am trying to say is there is no right or wrong way of saying it.

Sorry: HollyM but you spelt it wrong too.
Reply:It%26#039;s a matter of laziness. It requires only a modicum of effort to pronounce both words properly. Perhaps some people should just say %26quot;sneakers%26quot;.
Reply:It%26#039;s spelt pronounciation. Sorry I hate errors. It sounds exactly like tennis shoes. What sort of question is this?

Mildew in tennis shoes!!!!?

My etnies tennis shoes got wet, and since we were in a hotel for a week I was unable to get them in a washer and dryer, and now they have mildew and a unbearable scent, what should I do to get rid of it? Will washing and drying them help?

Mildew in tennis shoes!!!!?
Run them on a small load by themselves with trgular detergean+1/2cup baking soda in the wash water and 1/2 cup vinegar in the rinse. After you dry them into the dryer, put 1/4 cup baking soda in them. That will soak up any more moisture and odors. I do that at the end of the day every day for my kids shoes. They just dump them out before they put them on in the morning.
Reply:Try washing them in hot water with 2cups regular vinegar- then dry in the dryer- then rewash and dry with your choice of washing detergent then dry in dryer with dryer sheets (strong ones from gain work best!) stuffed into the shoes! Hope that helps!
Reply:We have a boot dryer. You set shoes on it, and it will dry them completely and kill the mildew.

If you do not have access to that, then bleach them if you you can. Bleach kills mildew.

If you can%26#039;t bleach them, the key is to get them completely dry, so you can try the dryer, or set them in front of a fan or dehumidifier until they are completely dry.

Midwesterners-Do you call sneakers/tennis shoes "GYM SHOES" and where are you from?

I grew up in Chicago and my boyfriend (he%26#039;s French) keeps teasing me about calling my Nikes %26#039;gym shoes%26#039; instead of sneakers/tennis shoes/trainers.

Basically I%26#039;m wondering where else outside of Chicago are they called gym shoes? I guess its probably used elsewhere in the Midwest but I%26#039;ve only heard it from Chicagoans.

Also if you%26#039;re from the Midwest and call them something else, where exactly are you from %26amp; what do you call them?

Suggest some good tennis shoes and brands?

I am getting into the groove for tennis this summer, please suggest me some good tennis shoes and brands and the things I need to look for.

Suggest some good tennis shoes and brands?
if you are looking for shoes reebok is good. slazenger is a good brand for tennis balls. head or dunlop are alright if you are looking for a tennis raquet
Reply:Look for Slazenger. They are rare in the U.S since they are made in England and rarely get shipped here, but Slazenger is a great brand. I have a Slazenger racket.
Reply:I strongly suggest you look a tennis shoe to fit the shape/stance of your feet instead by the brand. Either your feet pronate, supinate or normal there are a lot models produced by the available brands. This way will increase safety in tennis from ankle problems.
Reply:i suggest Adidas Barricade tennis shoe. they are very comfortable and very fast. I also recommend you Nike tennis shoe. they are really nice. The babolat shoe are also very good.
Reply:Andy Roddick sponsers a line of Tennis shoes thru Reebok that are really good.

Reebok has their own line of tennis shoes. Not sure if you are looking for make or female shoes.

Boot Sizes? Same as TEnnis Shoes?

Are boot sizes the same as tennis shoes?

If i wear an 8 1/2 (8.5) tennis shoe, what size Ariat U-Toe boots will i need? Thanks!

Boot Sizes? Same as TEnnis Shoes?
They do run the same sizes as normal shoes. Some styles of Ariat though run a little bit bigger. Anyway you can try them on before you buy? If not then I think the 8.5 is a safe bet.

Does white shoe polish work on tennis shoes?

Does white shoe polish work on tennis shoes? where do i get it and for how much

Does white shoe polish work on tennis shoes?
go to walgreens and they have this stuff that kinda looks like a bingo blotter and its like 5 bucks, they have different colors too, its for shoes dont use nail polish its tacky and if anyone out there is like me, they will notice fast

good luck
Reply:Yes it does. It will work better if the tennis shoes are clean and you just need to cover scuff marks. If you can, throw your tennies in the washing machine to get all of the dirt off (brush them off first if there%26#039;s a lot of dirt.) You can either put them in the clothes dryer or let them dry naturally (wad up some newspaper and stuff it inside them if you%26#039;re drying them naturally. This will help absorb some of the moisture and help them maintain their shape.)

You can buy shoe polish at any drug store or grocery store. I use the bottle with the sponge applicator attached to the top. Simply follow the directions on the bottle. One bottle will last a long time as long as you put the cap back on and close it tightly.
Reply:Yes it will.If you have A Shoe Carnivle there,go there to get the polish. Its in a bottle, and I believe it costs $5.95 for a large bottle.
Reply:I use clorox spray bleach. I know that sounds super silly but it works.
Reply:White liquid shoe polish works well on leather tennis shoes. It is a little difficult to get a detailed coating without making the shoes look spray painted, but possible. Try it. It is sold at most any store like Wal-mart or Target. It is not exensive at all - likely under 4 dollars.
Reply:i dont know about show polish but if you go to a finish line store, you can get a bottle of shoe cleaner stuff for about 8 or 9 bucks
Reply:I have some white Adidas with the three stripes on the sides. I use this paste that is for Cowboy boots. When I was little, my dad used it on his boots and gave the rest to me. I%26#039;ve bee using it ever since. It blends in with the color or the shoe. You can go to a western store and ask them for a %26quot;white color paste for the boots.%26quot;

Can I make backless tennis shoes?

I have the cutest pair of tennis shoes that I just bought, but they hurt my feet! They are rubbing big blisters on the backs of my heels and it makes me so sad to not be able to wear them. Is there any way that I could make them into a pair of backless, slide-on tennis shoes? Like cut out the heel part??? Or would they just fall all apart?

Thanks for your help!!!

Can I make backless tennis shoes?
no, no non on no! dont cut them! ive made several of my shoes into slide ons just by forcing my weight down on the back part of them. just... you know... fold it down, and wear em like that. eventually they%26#039;ll be super comfortable.. and you still have the option of popping the back right up again. ... and it doesnt look like it was cut, it looks like they were made that way.

Coach Tennis Shoes?

Where can you get cheap tennis shoes from coach?

Are they good quality?

Coach Tennis Shoes?
I have a few pairs of Coach shoes and you can find them in specialty Coach outlet stores in your area. Also, Macy%26#039;s sells them. They are very good quality and I personally love them. They are cheap in my opinion, the tennis shoes are only $100 in those stores. Check out Nordstrom, they have them up to 30% less. I hope I could help you!
Reply:go to nordstroms. they have them for 80 dollars. That%26#039;s really cheap, if you want to get real ones.
Reply:They are going to be about the same price every where you can get them at Coach.com,Coach the store,Macys,Nordstroms,Bloomingdales and stores of that kind they are pretty good quality but there not really for like P.E and sports there for like the mall or school where you dont go ruff on them
Reply:well they do have tennis shoes under 100 i donno about quality but it is coach
Reply:In the coach store. You can get cheap ones if they are fake. If you go in the coach store they will be really expensive.
Reply:alright well this just happens to be my specialty. dillards, macys, or nordstroms will have them. the basic ones for 80 dolars(flat rubber bottom). i have 3 pairs. 2 basic and 1 pair of modified bowling shoes. those were 100 dollars . but theyre all realllly comfy. and good quality. i think i would buy them even if they werent a name brand cuz theyre so comfy!

What are tennis shoes?

It%26#039;s my first time joining my highschool%26#039;s tennis team and the coach said we need tennis shoes...I%26#039;m not quite sure what to look for. I have a good pair of Nike Shox, and I%26#039;ve used them before on the court. Would those do? If not, where can I find a good, affordable pair?

What are tennis shoes?
Tennis shoes are more flat and have a different sort of grip on the bottom of the shoe specifically designed to grip a tennis court. Unfortunately for you, Nike Shox are not a form of tennis shoe, and if you continue to use them they will eventually start to fall apart due to wear and tear. If you go to any sporting goods store that sells shoes, they usually have a section just for tennis shoes. Some pairs are as cheap as thirty dollars, but they do not come with a warranty and tend to wear out more easily. I suggest getting either Adidas or Nike brand tennis shoes, which are a bit more expensive but come with a warranty so that if you wear them out the company will send you a new pair. So look at the price of the shoes as if you are paying for two pairs. I hope this was helpful to you. (P.S. Adidas tends to usually make heavier shoes than Nike, so decide between the two by establishing if you would prefer heavy or light shoes.)
Reply:Tennis shoes have a flat, white sole. Nike Shox aren%26#039;t tennis shoes. Unfortunately, tennis shoes are not extremely cheap, but if you google %26quot;tennis sneakers%26quot; you may get some discount stores.
Reply:these are it:
Reply:they have flat bottoms. pretty much addais ordinals, i played tennis for a long time, any shoes will do in my opinion, skills what matters lol.
Reply:Get shoes at www.tenniswarehouse.com . I like the Barricades of adidas. Although they are about 110 dollars US, they are worth it because it last for a very long time. I have the Barricade 1 and they have lasted me for already 3 months. My shoes usually last less than a month but those barricades last for a very long time. If you dont like heavy shoes, dont get the barricade but get Nike. Just check out the shoes at tenniswarehouse.
Reply:Shoes like these::

or you could look at this website lol http://www.tennis-warehouse.com/
Reply:when he said tennis shoes thats what he meant ur shoes r fine
Reply:you can buy some shoes in the shoe shops.
Reply:Nike Shox seem to be just running shoes. If they have a heavy tread (not very smooth) they may not be very good for tennis. You might check with the coach. Most shoe stores, expecially in Malls, have shoes made for tennis.
Reply:Go to tenniswarehouse.com and look at their shoes. Those are tennis shoes. What you have (Nike shox) are running shoes and designed for running, not the lateral movements you%26#039;ll need on the court. Tennis shoes give you more stability on side to side movements. Plus running shoes might mark up a tennis court. You really should get some tennis shoes or you might turn your ankle on the tennis court.

IMO, Nike tennis shoes have no cushion and everyone wears them. I like Fila, they are cute and they feel great and no one else has them, so I like to be different. I also have a few pairs of Wilson Tour I and Tour II - these are great, durable shoes. Prince makes good shoes. Adidas is too heavy for me and Nike just has no cushion. Here are 3 sites that are good sellers - there are many shoes on sale - just look at the different brands.

New Sneakers Basketball Tennis shoes....How do we get rid of the odor?

We paid over $130 for a pair of basketball shoes for our son and now that bball season is over he wants to wear them for everyday use which would be fine except he never aired them out during bball season. He left them zipped up in his sports bag and now his tennis shoes have a horrible odor. We have tried odor eater spray, baking soda, odor eater insoles and bounce dryer sheets. The dryer sheets did seem to work the best but by the end of the day the smell was coming back. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.....please no suggestions to throw them out, they are expensive shoes and new, have never been worn outside. Thanks!

New Sneakers Basketball Tennis shoes....How do we get rid of the odor?
Wash them in the washing machine. I used to do this with all of our tennis shoes. Don%26#039;t dry them though as they tend to get the leather too dried out.
Reply:Charcoal is good for removing odors, but you%26#039;d have to be careful about how you use it, otherwise you%26#039;ll get charcoal dust in the shoes. Each time after he wears them, crunch up a few pages of the newspaper and stuff them in, that will get rid of moisture in them from being worn. You maybe could replace the insoles, that might be where the odor is coming from and by replacing them you get rid of the source. And don%26#039;t let him wear them every day, give them at least a day in between to air out. Good luck!
Reply:Air them outside for a week. Then spray an entire can of axe into the shoes. It will smell of axe for QUITE some time which may or may not be a good thing.... but at least it%26#039;s better than foot odour right?
Reply:Sun is the best odor eliminator. After cleaning them thoroughly with tide detergent and color bleach in gentle wash cycle setting, crisp dry them in sun. It will take few days but will be odor free.
Reply:baby powder your feet and the shoes every time you use them

Reply:I don%26#039;t know who invented them........my guess a Pirate, because those rubber soles sure made it easier casting those riggin%26#039;s, and those canvas uppers dried better than leather, u know like sail cloth. We called em deck shoes. True story.

Then the nonslip soles became appealing to athletes, and along about early 1900%26#039;s wacking a ball back and forth over a net became popular in high social society type folk, and those rubber soles kept%26#039;em from falling on thier face, and because they had more time than a Pirate who has to hit the %26quot;deck%26quot; running, they put laces in them. So they where dubbed %26quot;tennis shoes%26quot; .

But until this day, in most all areas of athletics, the next man up to play is called the %26quot;man on deck%26quot;. Savvey?

Why do my tennis shoes squeak? How do I make them stop?

I%26#039;ve had them for about a year, but just recently started wearing them regularly. I%26#039;ve seen old T.V shows where they oiled squeaky shoes, but this was in a comical fashion and they were dress type shoes. Is there a way to stop tennis shoes from squeaking?

Why do my tennis shoes squeak? How do I make them stop?
No...thats just how they are.
Reply:i dont now go to a shoe wearhouse or somrthing and find a non marking sole.

Is it okay to buy tennis shoes 1/2 size bigger than your normal size?

I normally wear a size 7 in shoes. I went to buy some Reebok Tennis Shoes (3D Ultra Lite) and they only has size 6 1/2 and 7 1/2. The 6 1/2 were too tight so I bought the 7 1/2.

I can still return them since I bought them today. Has anyone else bought tennis shoes 1/2 size bigger? Did the shoes work out okay?

Is it okay to buy tennis shoes 1/2 size bigger than your normal size?
From personal experiance it would probably be a bad idea. You can get blisters and do some damage to your foot which can sometimes even be irreverable. When I was working at a mover I had to wear shoes during my first week that were 1/2 larger then my regular shoes and both my feet got major blisters and I couldn%26#039;t work on one day because my foot started bleedibng.

In short, I would it is a bad idea.
Reply:well it depends on what you are trying to use them for, just recreational tennis shoes its fine to have an extra 1/2 size in there, but if you don%26#039;t wanna be swimming in your shoes when you%26#039;re running then i would recommend getting a different pair or wait for a different size.
Reply:youll get blisters.
Reply:I guess so. I have to because shoe stores don%26#039;t carry a 10.5, so I buy an 11.
Reply:i have worked at finishline for almost a year, for those of you who dont know what finishline is... its a shoe store...

anyways buying your shoes a half size bigger would cause alot of creasing in your new cool shoes and it would make them ware out quicker and look much older than they really are. Also when you walk you might trip over the tips of your shoes here and there because the 1/2 size bigger part will be in your way when you step down..
Reply:the shoes should be ok, you can always stuff the toe with something!
Reply:yes
Reply:yes because if you buy them the exact size, you%26#039;ll grow out of them very quickly then end up buying another pair of shoes again. Where as getting them bigger they%26#039;ll last longer; if you take good care of them...
Reply:its best to get tennis shoes that fit snug. but not to tight that its uncomfortable. you don%26#039;t want your feet to be sliding in them as well.
Reply:Yep :)

If you run or walk for long periods of time, you feet may get swollen. If that happens, you can have more foot space.
Reply:Do they feel like they will fit right? I have done it before, and not had any problem. The good thing is, they are tennis shoes and not dress shoes. Dress shoes have to be the exact size.

Are dress shoe sizes smaller than tennis shoes?? HELP!!!!?

Am buying prom shoes online and I want to make sure they fit properly. Am not sure if I should go with an 7 or 6.5. My tennis shoe%26#039;s size is 7, but my dress shoe size is 6.5. Which size should I get? I don%26#039;t want to the have that problem, weather it%26#039;s to big or to small!!!

Are dress shoe sizes smaller than tennis shoes?? HELP!!!!?
majority of my shoes are the same size, tennis shoes and normal shoes. The only time I have to adjust size up is if I am having fit problems. I have a high in step/arch and if there is any sort of bands across the top of the foot I have to go larger.

a lot of times, if I have the money, I would buy both sizes, and then send one back whichever one doesn%26#039;t fit.
Reply:You really ought to try them on to see how they fit. I have found that they differ in sizes in brands and style of shoe. I have ordered shoes that have wound up being 2 whole sizes larger. I order shoes from Zappos. They have the best return policy.
Reply:it depends on the brand, unfortunately. it varies A LOT, im anything from a 9 to a 12 in womens

go to zappos.com. they have a fairly reliable rating system on how well a shoe fits true to its intended size

Do running shoes make good tennis shoes?

I am really interested in Nike ID, but they don%26#039;t have any tennis shoes to personalize, but they do have stuff like Shox and Zoom. Are these good for tennis?

Do running shoes make good tennis shoes?
As a rule of thumb you should never buy running shoes for tennis. I played competitive tennis for years and found out by trial and error and later was told not a good idea. Although some running shoes could be used on a hard court most of the stitching was not designed for the rigors of movement on a hard court. Some running shoe soles will leave sole marks(imprints) on the surface of court. Lastly, most running shoe soles break down quickly from the friction applied by playing tennis.
Reply:They could work, but definetely not Shox. A real tennis shoe has a very thick, nearly flat bottom. The advantage is that the thick soles offer better support for the many stops and starts you do in tennis.
Reply:never buy running shoes for tennis.
Reply:No, the support is in the wrong areas. A court shoe has to have lateral stability and well as longitudinal stability. Most companies make a good court shoe. Buy the steak not the sizzle.
Reply:You should really look for specific tennis shoes. I have Prince ones, and they are phenomenal. Mainly you want an actual pair of tennis shoes because of the grip. Most Prince shoes are made with Goodyear Tire material, and I have never had a problem with slipping. While running shoes have a lot of traction, it never holds up for long once your on the court. So I would say that court-specific shoes would be a much more worthwhile investment.

Teens/ and tennis shoes???? GUYS!?

Why is it that my 15 year old son- soon to be 16 totally INSISTS on buying the most expensive tennis shoes ever!!!!????? God forbid i get them at Walmart- he would go barefoot before wearing walmart shoes!!! Is it really that big a deal????? Geeze!

Teens/ and tennis shoes???? GUYS!?
when teens are at this age they want to be part of the crowd and the only way of becoming part of the crowd is to bye designer clothers shoes or do something stupid like smoking or drinking so if i were you i would bye them for him or he might try to find another way of becoming part of the crowd and that could be dangerous

if money allows you to buy him a pair i say go for it but tell him he won%26#039;t be able to get another pair in x amount of months or year

so if he ruins them he%26#039;ll have to wait till then or wear cheap ones.

this worked one me and my siblings to take care of our shoes.
Reply:It%26#039;s sad but society puts so much emphasis on that kind of stuff these days. Don%26#039;t give in to him. Reply:Yes it is i%26#039;m 13 and i get exspinsive tenni-shoes that are usless because you cant run in them but they look awesome and to fit in you wear them.
Reply:Screw any other shoe, but I need my sneakers. I%26#039;ll probably blow about $500 on sneakers a month. The thing is that a lot of guys are into looking good just like girls. So instead of getting all excited about a $250 Louis Vitton pair of shoes, they%26#039;re into Nikes and Adidas. Cheap shoes don%26#039;t have the same feel and style.

Reply:as long as they are cute to me i will wear them i just would not wear any from the dollar store
Reply:for them thay think so.. i think its rediculus to pay over 30$ for a pair of shoes cause ur just gonna wear them and get them ruined that u have to buy more. when i was in school there was this one boy that every week he would come to school with a new pair of shoes and thay would cost his mom over 200$ each time. i would kill my kid not a very good thing to do cause than thay just basicly think that money grows on trees. i just baought my 15 month old a pair of shoes at walmart and thay look like the new nike%26#039;s and i only paid 5$ for them.. and i had a pair of shoes from walmart that looked exactly like sketchers but only paied 15$ for them i thinkits just dumb to pay all that money for name oof the shoe not the actul shoe cause walmart proves that shoes dont cost much its jsut the name that tha are paying for. and its ur money not ur sons. if i was you i would tell him to go out and get a JOB if he wants to buy expencive shoes. other than that i would jsut buy him shoes from walmart if he dont like thats his fault. buy them for him he will wear them or he%26#039;ll get a job cause u cant go anywhere with out shoes on no place will let him in. so he will eventuly wear them. and thay also buy them expencive shoes to be jsut like one another
Reply:i don%26#039;t know about the most expensive shoes. But yes it is important, you can tell a guy by his shoes. Ok so i%26#039;m 17 and i have...about 12 pairs of shoes, and they%26#039;re all for different events. If i want to look %26#039;cool%26#039;, yes wear the expensive white never been touched shoes, (which never happens cause i dont%26#039; care enough to look %26#039;cool%26#039;)...but u get the point. I wouldn%26#039;t give into him though, put a price check on it, or make him go barefoot if he isn%26#039;t willing to lower his standards...at least thats what my parents do: if you don%26#039;t buy them then make him. good luck! :)

Do i need to have running shoes or do regular tennis shoes work?

i want to start jogging for cardio after my workout, but i don%26#039;t have running shoes. i do have regular tennis shoes, but im wondering do i have to have specific shoes, shoes designed especially for running, or can i use regular tennis shoes.

i know that heavier shoes are supposed to be worse because they slow you down, but i don%26#039;t want to flat out sprint, so speed isn%26#039;t a concern for me. basically, will it be bad on my feet to use regular shoes?

Do i need to have running shoes or do regular tennis shoes work?
As a distance runner, my advice to you is to use a running shoe.

Running shoes are designed specifically for running, which is very different from tennis. Tennis involves a lot of side to side, back to forth movement, while running involves only one movement - forward. So, the mechanics is different, and the design of the shoes have to be different to accommodate for efficiency as well as protection.

The problem of running with wrong types of shoes is that, if you do it for a long time, you are at risk of injury. Believe me, I have had my share of injuries, including severe foot pain from badly fitted shoes. In fact, at present, I am changing my running shoes after realizing that I had just done about 500 miles on this old pair, even though they look great. I realized that after my foot started hurting a bit after running this week.

Don%26#039;t save money and buy the wrong types of shoes. If you do a lot of cross training, a cross training shoe may be OK. Otherwise, if you want to run, get a running shoe. Tennis shoes will not do.
Reply:it gonna hurt your feet. Just get the tennis shoes, running, or walk shoes; any
Reply:its best to wear running shoes for the purpose of running..it is light weight, soft and designed for running...
Reply:You%26#039;re going to want good running shoes. Speaking from personal experience now, even short distances in bad shoes will hurt like hell, and running in the bad shoes over and over again (or for a long enough distance a few times) will lead to injury. Pay the extra money, get a pair of shoes.
Reply:I suggest you buy a good pair of running shoes (not expensive) Dont go for the looks or color just go for the comfort. I recomend you going to a specilty store just for running. The have people you know what they are doing. In the long run it will be better. A good pair of running shoes can provide comfort and prevent injury. Hope this helped out
Reply:I guess it would depend on what you mean by regular shoes. Are you talking about weightlifting shoes or cross-trainers? The cross-trainers would make it okay, they have adequate arch support for running short to medium distances. Weightlifting shoes do not typically have that. In addition to being lightweight, running shoes are also cushioned and designed to support the feet as you run, so it%26#039;s more than just the weight. If you are jogging on a treadmill, and the regular shoes you are using have adequate support, than you should be okay.

Question about my new tennis shoes?

So i just bought my new tennis shoes beacuse im getting private lessons and im a basketball player so i couldnt wear my basketball shoes to the tennis court.

Now the question:

Is the sole supposed to be hard?

and when putting the shoes on and walking on them should it feel hard?

Question about my new tennis shoes?
It really depends on what brand shoe you bout.

Tennis shoes are very supported and cushioned becuase of the beating your feet take on the courts. Many shoes have a recommended period of casual wearing to break in the shoes.

One of my pairs of tennis shoes are Adidas Barricade IV. They are extremely stiff, and on the site i bought them from, it was recommended two weeks of street wear before i hit the courts. Tenniswarehouse.com might tell you if you shoes should be broken in, if they have your shoes on their site.

On the other hand, my most resent pair are Nike Max Breathe Free II are completely different. The moment i put them on it felt like i just stepped on pillows, and they were very flexible on the court.

So really it just depends on what type of shoe you bought. It is not bad if they are stiff, you just need to break them in and they will be good to go!
Reply:I don%26#039;t know a lot about tennis, but if your shoes are hard, you are going to have some major problems in your shins. Shin splints and stress fractures could be an issue down the road. Most shoes are a little stiff until you work them in, but they shouldn%26#039;t be hard.
Reply:I don%26#039;t know what exactly how hard you are talking about, but I can tell you more about nice tennis shoes.

True tennis shoes should let you %26quot;feel%26quot; the ground. This helps you and your footwork, because you can essentially be moving and feeling every step as soon as you take them. The shoes should provide stability so you don%26#039;t fall over when you have to pivot/turn/jump/hop/split step/run/adjust to shots.

Most importantly they should be comfortable to you. Now, tennis shoes aren%26#039;t made for daily jogging/running off the courts. They are made so they grip just enough and also keep you cushioned long enough for a match.

I suggest looking at your local tennis store, and trying on some shoes before you commit to one that isn%26#039;t right for you.

Some people like more cushion, some like more feel for the court.
Reply:It depends on the tennis shoe...some have hard soles which are made for durability, those with softer soles are made for better grip, traction, and, overall performance and are often more expensive. perhaps getting an insole will make the shoe have a softer feel
Reply:tennis shoes are really stable in the ankles and tend to not be as flexible as lets say a running shoe. break them in and if they are still hard get some new ones.
Reply:Every shoe type has variations/specialties (cross country running shoes versus track ones, etc.). Tennis is no exception.

Some are designed to help the volleyer (for the frequent %26quot;stop and go%26quot; motions) whereas others are designed more for the baseline player (more running).

I agree with the previous posts that you should give your shoes a %26quot;break in%26quot; period. However, if after ample time, the shoes are still uncomfortable, you should look into another pair. Talk to your local tennis store (or there%26#039;s always Google) for shoes that are more comfortable and that help you play like Federer!

Whats the difference between tennis shoe and running shoes?

i%26#039;m taking a tennis class at school and teacher told us %26quot;tennis shoes required. no running shoes.%26quot; but whats the difference?

Whats the difference between tennis shoe and running shoes?
Running shoes have a higher lift, because of the added cushioning and the angle needed to keep a body forward position.

The soles of running shoes have a more %26quot;teethy%26quot; sole for traction for many different terrains! Runners do not shuffle side to side like tennis players so a running shoe will not offer the same lateral support as a true tennis shoe. The %26quot;teethy%26quot; sole of a running shoe is potentially dangerous in that it can %26quot;catch%26quot; the surface during those low to the ground shuffle movements. And because of the higher lift, turning an ankle in a running shoe can be very serious and very painful. Also if you are taking lessons on clay courts, often called soft courts, running shoes will tear the surface up, thus making the courts themselves dangerous to play on!

As a tennis coach who teaches on clay courts I strongly recommend finding a local or not local tennis shop to advise you on the style and fit that will best suit your level and the surface you are playing on!

Good Luck!
Reply:A tennis shoe is flat on the bottome, to help you move swifter and helps to protect against injuries, especially in your ankle. Running shoes help you run faster since they help creat traction.
Reply:tennis shoes have a more flat bottom
Reply:a tennis shoe has a more flat bottom, because in tennis your shoes need to be as flat as they can or you%26#039;ll run the risk of rolling your ankle. running shoes have more tread on the bottom to create more traction.
Reply:The expression on the tennis court owner%26#039;s face after you%26#039;ve played...
Reply:tennis shoes are made of predominantly leather (rather than mesh mix running shoes). This adds support. Moreover they have flat bottom soles with herringbone pattern pressed in

like ^^^^^^^^

^^^^^^^^

^^^^^^^^

but with more pattern in between the gaps.

they are also not raised as high in the heel to provide better stability for lateral movement, and to help prevent ankle rolling.

the shoes also have bracing around the foot made of a hard rubber or plastic, coming down from or up to the laces around the foot.for lateral movement support and to prevent foot from moving around in shoe.
Reply:tennis shoes have flatter soulsfr better grip on flat surfaces...this is because the tennis courts are always flat ......while running shoes are ment for all surfaces nd there soul are modified for the same

It used to mean you could find a dealer underneath or nearby. But the cops caught on fast and now it means nothing.
Reply:Yeah, it means some poor sap will have to buy a new pair of shoes. When I was a kid we used to do it for two reasons; either we were being mean to some other kid by throwing them up there and getting them caught (unfortunately, that got the other kid%26#039;s parents involved and the joke was on us when our parents had to buy the kid a new pair of shoes), or we were just being stupid and doing it with our own shoes just to see if they would get caught. I read an article a while back about how a child%26#039;s brain doesn%26#039;t fully develop until they are 20 or so, I guess that tends to prove that theory. Yeah, but they%26#039;re not like gang symbols or anything like that.
Reply:I%26#039;ve heard that in gang culture it means that someone has died/been killed, and they throw that person%26#039;s shoes up over the phone wire in memorium.
Reply:No....its just a bunch of kids thought it would be funny to throw their shoes on the telephone wire....i dont understand it

Tennis shoes on a phone wire?
It means alot of things. Back in the 80%26#039;s, it used to be a marker where drug deals go on. Like the answer above me said, it also has been a sign of insulting somebody who has gotten their shoes stolen. I personally believe the majority of shoes you see on the telephone wires are the result of kids with nothing better to do then to see if they can actually hook shoes on a telephone wire.
Reply:I believe its just kids stealing shoes from the school locker room and throwing them up a pole to display to all and the owner of the shoes is insulted!
Reply:i have always been told that means you can get drugs around somewhere, but thats just what i heard who knows!

What shoes good for tennis player, shoe store clerk says, cross training shoes,or running shoes, cost?

store people give different recommendations for tennis shoes, some say cross training shoes, others recommend running shoes. mid range price good tennis shoes? any recommendation

What shoes good for tennis player, shoe store clerk says, cross training shoes,or running shoes, cost?
Honestly there is no real reason that you or any one else need to pay such high prices for tennis shoes at all.

Any good pair of tennis shoes will work just great for your needs and it won%26#039;t cost you an arm and half a leg either.

Use your own good judgment when it comes to what you need for these shoes. Whatever feels good on your feet and won%26#039;t allow you to slip across the court will be your best bet.

All those expensive shoes are just that too, expensive and basically all do the same except they will cost you that arm and half a leg to buy.

Save your arm and leg and check around for a good %26quot;play%26quot; shoe no matter the name it should work for you and you can keep the change for more important things in life too.

Good luck with tennis games.
Reply:Dear friend,I can wholesale the shoes and clothing to you at very very low price, if you are interested , please contact me 。the website for our shoes is http://www.tomwholesale.com or MSN:edison_tomwholesale@hotmai...

Reply:Try New Balance shoes, as they come in varied widths, this really helps, if you have wide feet. Also try replacing the shoes insole with something with more cushion.
Reply:Cross training would be alright but you really need a tennis shoe. Going side to side makes running shoes unacceptable. You can get a good shoe for around $50-$75. I love Nike. They last longer on the court.
Reply:Definately don%26#039;t use running shoes. You%26#039;ll need court shoes that have relatively flat soles. See few samples (look at close up of soles) from

www.tenniswarehouse.com and search for similar if you are doing local shopping and somewhat serious player. Remember, you can run with tennis shoes but don%26#039;t play tennis with running shoes.
Reply:Having just shopped for a pair, look for these things:

-Thick sole: if you play outside at all, a regular cross-trainer or badminton or inside court shoe will not last you long

-Make sure they fit your foot type!: Try alot of pairs, more than one for the same size in the same brand, find the one that doesn%26#039;t snag anywhere. Try using synthetic sox so you don%26#039;t sweat as much.

-Look for ankle support if you have a tendency to hurt your ankles.

-Don%26#039;t go for style: it doesn%26#039;t improve your game and will cost you too much

-Buy last year%26#039;s models: cost half the price of this year.

-Try in sports store, buy online or outlets: find your shoe than shop for the price.

-With all this you should be able to find a shoe at about 50$ on www.tenniszon.com or www.tennis-warehouse.com or www.zappos.com

Good luck!
Reply:rt grip would be very important. think about having to turn on a ball.... with running shoes you wouldnt have the grip... sounds like the shoe guy doesnt know anything about tennis
Reply:Don%26#039;t get running shoes, get tennis shoes. if you don%26#039;t the front of the shoe will break and there will be a hole. Get a tennis shoe. Those have more traction and more rubber by the toe so there wouldn%26#039;t be a hole. this is because running shoes have vents in the front shoe. That will wear down very quick. Here is a web sight. I got my tennis shoes here except in the women%26#039;s department.

http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/family...
Reply:Ask for tennis shoes to play tennis, not cross trainers or running.I prefer to choose the shoes in internet and look for those in the store if I could not find them I ordered form www.tennisshop.com

Secure site an cheap.
Reply:why don%26#039;t you get tennis shoes. those will last longer. they have a different material at the toe so that way it doesn%26#039;t ware out when you make a sudden stop. i ware tennis shoes and they work great. don%26#039;t even try running shoes. i got mine for $40.00. go to dick%26#039;s sporting goods that is where i got mine.
Reply:I prefer Adidas tennis shoes. The Barricade model ranges from $80-120. Other models are around $50. Wilson makes good tennis shoes also. Do not buy running shoes if you are going to play tennis. It does not offer the support a pair of tennis shoes does.
Reply:To be honest, when I played on varsity in high school, I used my skateboarding shoes because they had good ankle support and the soles never wore out from constant sliding. However, now that I play in college, I%26#039;ve found that if you actually get a brand name shoe like Head or Prince (yes, they make shoes too) they have a thicker sole for wear because of the sliding. But, you can%26#039;t go wrong with a good pair of Adidas cross-trainers.
Reply:Dont ever use running shoes, these shoes have vents in the front and are very unprotected... because runners will only need the bottoms of the shoes, to run... so you%26#039;ll wear out runnings shoes very fast. I wear the Nike Air Zoom Vapor 3 Black/White. These are great, they have a thick bottom and have guards on the front tip and sides so when you have those running shots, your feet will be protected if you slide the sides or the front.

This pair of shoes is also very flexible, which is great with all the guards. It almost feels like a pair of running shoes, so its comfortable and also durable. good luck
Reply:Don%26#039;t use running shoes. I would go to the store and look for something on clearning that has good grip on the bottom and that would provide your ankles with support. I would also consider how much the shoe weighs because its alot easier to run in a light shoe then a heavier one. I don%26#039;t have any specific recomendations though I would just look for something on sale that comfortable, light and has good traction.

Tennis shoes?

anyone reccommend a decent pair? i%26#039;m looking for something within the $60-$80 range.

Tennis shoes?
Adidas makes a good shoe called the Tirand, and they also have the Tirand 2, it%26#039;s a shoe that looks just like the barricade, but it%26#039;s a lighter shoe and I think it%26#039;s more comfortable, plus you can find them for right around 60-70 dollars. Or you could try the Nike City Court, it%26#039;s a pretty basic white shoe with a little colored trim (silver I think), but they usually retail for 50 bucks, and both of these shoes can be used by advanced, or beginner players. Good Luck
Reply:depends on what kind of tennis you are playing. highschool? i actually wear nike court shoes (about $40 at Dick%26#039;s sporting goods). however, if you are going more professional, then you should check out Dick%26#039;s and Foot Locker, but definitely choose what feels comfortable to you, not what others think is comfortable.
Reply:i know the best shoe out there. ADIDAS BARRICADE IV%26#039;s!

this shoe has the best durability, and support. i%26#039;ve had mine for 4 months now, and they havent shown signs of wearing out. also, its the most prestigious shoe out there (my opinion!). seriously dude, these shoes are awesome.

um....they cost 105 dollars. the more they cost, the better quality they are!
Reply:if you can find one , buy bridgestone tennis shoes. They%26#039;re amazing

For those who do lots of lateral movement, what is the more perferable shoe among the two?

Nike Air Vapor IV or

Nike Air Max Breathe Cage?

Tennis shoes?
yeah, if u wanna choose between the two, u SHOULD go for Air Max cuz it not only facilitates easier foot movement but also prevents ur foot from ever getting sprained, the sole of the shoe automatically adjusts to almost any kind of torture ur foot puts it through.. and a lot of my frnds hav told me that it%26#039;s original sole lasts longer than most other shoes thus ensuring that u are not suffering frm not being able to change direction easily... although if u hav the funds and the mind, u can try adidas barricade 4, it allows max flexibility... even try adidas torrent-v, that%26#039;s the one i use and i havn%26#039;t had a single beef with it till date(i bought it about 1 1/2 years ago)
Reply:Well, I don%26#039;t know about Nike, but I want to talk about the Adidas Barricade. Yes, it is VERY famous and many people use it. Why?

On both sides of the Barricade, there are 3 stripes. The 3 stripes on the left side and the three stripes on the right side are actually the SAME three stripes. So from the left, the three stripes pass under the shoe and go to the right side, getting a good grip on your foot for more control.

\_\_\_____/_/_/

3 stripes _____base of shoe____ 3 stripes
Reply:Vapor IV
Reply:Breathe Cage.
Reply:If your concern in having the best for lateral movements, then I would choose the one with the lower profile (I think its the vapor). These shoes are usually harder (thinner sole) but they avoid your foot from rolling over on lateral movements.

I see a lot of folks above me recommend Adidas. These are very comfortable but I find they don%26#039;t give the support I need on lateral stops. This is probably not an issue if you are smaller in size but I am 6%26#039;2%26quot; about 210lbs I feel the Adidas do not give me the support I need and it sometimes feels like my foot is about to role over...
Reply:air max..........it has more flexibility to it and is a lot more comfortable shoe
Reply:I%26#039;d pick the Vapor 4 as well if you could fit into a narrow shoe if not then try the Air Max Breathe Cage if given just the 2 choices but @ $110 each find them way overpriced for the quality.

The best shoes IMO are the New Balance 803, %26amp; 802%26#039;s the mid cuts that can be purchased in different widths. I have 12 EE and find them very stable, comfortable, and very supportive. Great all around tennis shoes @ $70. Someone with stronger ankles may not need the added support and choose the low cut CT1200 WB, or CT1002 W which are solid shoes but on the expensive side at $99 %26amp; $85. A better value and a very good shoe is the CT 653 @ $54. Great value for the money. Get two for the price of one Nike.

You would be amazed at how many people require something different widthwise than just a D or medium width shoe. Which by the way is what Nike predominantly makes with few exceptions.

One thing I will give Nike is that they make great commercials. Enjoy I know sunny_babe will. Especially the Nadal clips.

I play high school women%26#039;s varsity tennis. I have bigger feet (size 10) and play about 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. I like Adidas%26#039;s Barricade IV and Divine.

Tennis Shoes?
I think that Barricades are the best bet. I played mine daily for 6 months+ and they never wore through. I only got new ones because my feet grew! Also, Barricades have a 6 month warranty so if you wear through them, they will replace them no questions ask. Just return the shoes to where you bought them.

I have heard many good things are the Prince M Series. They are made of very strong Goodyear Tire rubber and also have a 6 month warranty. There are also some good color choices with those ones, in case you want to match your outfit :)

The source link I have included is to the Prince M Series.

Good luck when tennis season rolls around, I hope this helps! -Nathan S.
Reply:the adidas ones are good but if you want great (the best) you should look at some babolat shoes they have new technology in them to help you even more you can order the ones you like at the tenniswarehouse.com.au
Reply:they done last that long. espicaily if you drag your toe if you play. all the nike breathe variety last a long time
Reply:The adidas barricade four is the shoe that I would go with if i were you. When I had mine they lasted a very long time and they also have a six month warranty which means that at 5 1/2 months you rub out the soles with a sander and get a new pair. They are also extremely comfortable. Great shoes!
Reply:Adidas%26#039;s Barricade IV is a really great shoe! it%26#039;s comfortable but the back part is rather uncomfortable is your socks are short. but it%26#039;s really stable and moving on the court is much faster and easier.
Reply:do u have really thin feet? if u do the barricade is a very good choice. but i need wide shoes and i always go with new balance CT 1200. they look great and work great
Reply:The Adidas Barricade shoe is an excellent shoe with a very stable platform. It will stand up to long hours on the court and should provide you with a good value for its high price.

What is it with the way in which these shoes are worn these days? I have a pair of stan smiths. I have seen so many people wearing them with the laces untied, practically hanging off their feet! Is this cool? Should i wear my trainers like this? I have also seen the ideas of having the last peice of loose laces dangling from the last eyelet, again is this cool? How should i wear these shoes?

Tennis Shoes?
Don%26#039;t try to fit in with the crowd, be your own person, wear them the way you like.
Reply:Since everybody seems to be wearing them w/ no laces, try going against the grain %26amp; doing something different? I know back in the day we used to weave our shoelaces. Depending how clean your shoes are it could be a good look--especially white-on-white or black-on-black. There%26#039;s all different ways you could lace em up hth.
Reply:if decide to wear them in this fashion to be cool i would highly reccomend lacing them up and tying them before taking on a physical endevour involved with foot movement.
Reply:People have been wearing adidas %26quot;classics%26quot; like that since the beginning of time. If you want to do it, go for it. I used to do stuff like that but I began just tying the knot behind the tongue because walking around in a manner that would keep untied or stuffed-tongue shoes on was a pain in the ***. You can%26#039;t run or jump with sneakers that are on loosely. So basically I grew out of it lol.
Reply:Since your watching how other people wear their clothes and wondering if this or that is cool, and whether or not you should wear it that way, then I%26#039;m guessing your younger.

Well, I hope your not young (as in early teens), and not influenced by peer pressure, then all I%26#039;ve got to say is that you should start a new trend. You know, the trend of tying your shoes so you don%26#039;t trip over the laces and fall and hurt or break something. Be a trend setter, not a follower, and that my friend, is cool.

I tie my tennis shoes BTW.
Reply:Always lace up your sneakers and tie them. The fools that wear them untied are extremely lame.

What is some good brands or recommendations on good shoes for tennis?

I Just started this year and may play for my school team.

Send links if you can.

Tennis Shoes?
If you just started this year, you probably don%26#039;t need to worry about getting tennis shoes. You will be fine just using any running or cross training shoe with a non-marking outsole.

If you really want to get some tennis shoes, don%26#039;t worry about getting any of the shoes above $80. Most of these come with six-month outsole warranties, and I doubt that you will be able to wear through the outsole that quickly at your level.

You can find decent tennis shoes online for uder 65 bucks. Those should work just fine for you. This biggest thing is comfort. Unfortunately, if you are buying online there is no way to try the shoes on before buying them. I haven%26#039;t bought any shoes from tenniswarehouse.com, but I%26#039;ve gotten several pair from midwestsports.com. They have a good return policy on the shoes, so if you decide you don%26#039;t like them, you can return them and try a different pair.
Reply:It%26#039;s not about the brand. Quality and comfort count more.

Just keep one thing in mind when looking for tennis shoes... PROTECTOR!

Only get shoes with a decent protector at the point of the shoes. That%26#039;s basically it.

Oh and if you%26#039;re going to be playing tennis full-time, you might start thinking of buying at least three pairs a year! Tennis assassinates good shoes! Trust me... I know what I%26#039;m talking about.
Reply:I would suggest something from adidas, since they%26#039;re a better brand that Nike. adidas shoes have low to moderate arch support (depending on the model), the toe box is wide enough, and it%26#039;s heavy enough so you don%26#039;t roll your ankles. Nike%26#039;s are really tight at the ankle (for me anyways), the arch support sucks, really too light, and sometimes, the toe box is smaller than average. If you don%26#039;t like adidas, you second choice should be Reebok, FILA, Asics or Lotto, they%26#039;re almost the same as adidas, but a little less heavier. You can find a selection of those shoes at htp://www.tennis-warehouse.com .
Reply:the brand Prince is expensive but very nice. Prince for any Tennis needs is a favorite of mine.
Reply:I%26#039;m not gonna lie.. I swear by New Balance, they have several different styles specifically for tennis, and they come in all widths and sizes. They%26#039;re also the most comfortable shoes I%26#039;ve ever had. I absolutely love the 800 series.

I%26#039;ve had shoes by both Nike and Adidas, but I find their toe box to be too narrow. I also think that they wear out faster, but I%26#039;m kinda biased.
Reply:the serious tennis player would get adidas barricade IV%26#039;s. just my opinion...theyre the best shoes out there in terms of quality and style. the best tennis shoes ive ever had, thats all i have to say...
Reply:addidas barricade shoes are really good. im not sure about nike but i bet they have good shoes too.

I constantly get new tennis shoes because they always rip on the outer sides. Any ideas of what I should do?

Tennis shoes?
Go to a store like New Balance wear a clean pair of socks jk and have your feet measured. You may need a wider pair than normal and this may explain the outer side tearing that you are experiencing. I need EE which is wider than my old D widths that I tore up on the outer sides once or twice.
Reply:The post above does have a good suggestion, you may need wide shoes.

If you have %26quot;normal%26quot; width feet, what ever that is... and you want shoes that last, buy shoes with 6 month guarantees.

Your referred the Prince Viper 4 ($70) and the K-Swiss Glaciators ($75) Both do not offer 6 month guarantees.

Shoes that do. Nike Air Max Breath Free ($110) Diadora and Lotto both offer 6 month guarantees some of their shoes. But my favorite shoes are Addidas Barricades. The B4%26#039;s are $105 but you can get the Barricade 2%26#039;s for $85, just a bit more than you are paying now for a GREAT Shoe that has a 6 month guarantee. So if the outsole wears out in 6 months, you are given a free one. I play and coach 5 days a week and haven%26#039;t worn out any Barricades to date.

Good Luck with your search.
Reply:weird...are you getting name brand? i have always worn nike and adidas and never had that problem...one time i bought a cheapy pair and the fell apart in like 2 months! spend a little more money and i bet they%26#039;ll last...u get what u pay for! =)
