I’ve found simple instructions for making dance shoes by gluing suede onto the bottom of a pair of shoes. I’ve never done this before and I want to know how effective it is and if there are any tips to doing it properly so as not to ruin a good pair of shoes. I’ll most likely use a pair of Puma tennis shoes, though I’m not sure what type of suede is best to use. Any suggestions?

Reply:no, i can't say that i've done that before. why don't you buy an actual pair dance shoes? your homemade ones probably won't be as effective. but if you HAVE to make your own, then i would suggest using flats..but pumas sound good too.

I have these tennis shoes that I wear all the time. I paid a lot of money for them, so I want them to look as good as possible. They're pretty dirty, and I want them to look as good as new as possible for as long as possible. So any and all honest help would be nice. Thanks for the help.

Reply:I have found that the washing machine works just fine, but do not put them in the dryer they can shrink them and after awhile it will start to pull the rubber sole away from the leather. If they are white you can try a toothbrush and some bleach.

What difference does it make? The main difference is that basketball shoes are high tops (to support the ankles). Maybe she needs the extra ankle support that basketball shoes offer.
Even if she has a sponsor, she just has to wear that brand of shoe. Sponsors don't dictate which style of shoe they wear (high tops, etc.). She needs to wear whichever type is best for her physically.
For the previous poster....I'm sure she's wearing whatever shirts are comfortable too. As far as her hair goes, she's a tennis player, not a model/actor/etc., you want her to get some fancy up-do just to play tennis?

I like them for their comfort and style. I wear out shoes within 2-3 months, so it is not worth it for me to buy expensive shoes. Also this shoe provides extra protection to where tennis players are prone to wearing out.

My husband wouldn't put little wheels on my tennis shoes so I could roller skate!! :(?
I sometimes see children in stores roller skating in their tennis shoes. Its sooo cute!! They have these shoes that have wheels in them to and they can walk or skate. I love roller skating and asked my husband if he would make me some shoes like that but he said no and I didn't want to accept that so I kept asking him and then he got mad at me and wouldn't buy me the earrings today that we were planning on getting due to the sales. Good question! unfortunatley, i am roped in the buying these shoes as well-marketed for "volleyball" use. In reality, i dont thinkthey are all the different. A little gel thing in the toe, a little different sole, but other thant hat, not too much.

Sure, you may run in volleyball, but the shoes you'd want should have a nice high arch that will allow you to jump high. Volleyball shoes also have better grip on the ground, so when you're diving for a ball you don't keep slideing. A volleyball company that has nice volleyball shoes is Adidas. Good Luck!

They do not provide adequate support for lateral movements and for the turns associated with volleyball. You mentioned Tennis shoes although I believe you mean running shoes. Structurally tennis shoes are very similar to volleyball shoes except for weight, vball shoes are much lighter. The movements in both sports are very similar so the soles and support provided are very similar.
At the 6th grade level I doubt you would see an increase of ankle and leg injuries from your players wearing running shoes simply because they don't usually move a whole lot. However the older and more advanced players get, I would definitely recommend volleyball shoes simply because they provide better support and prevent injuries like rolled ankles and the like.

I think you have been misinformed. There is no reason why people would consider this rude, lots of people here in Ireland wear white socks with tennis shoes. The only places this might be a problem would be pubs and clubs who have a dress code in the evenings. These premises tend to have security staff at the doors. Enjoy yourself and wear what you feel comfortable in!

I think you have been misinformed. There is no reason why people would consider this rude, lots of people here in Ireland wear white socks with tennis shoes. The only places this might be a problem would be pubs and clubs who have a dress code in the evenings. These premises tend to have security staff at the doors. Enjoy yourself and wear what you feel comfortable in!

AHH! HELP PLEASE! Must find cute white tennis shoes for uniform... required... can have touch of blue?
OOOOKay, so I get some new information that we have to wear white tennis shoes with only an accent of blue for our uniform. Now, I am one who doesn't own any sneakers and I would prefer if forced to wear them that they are the sleekish non-sneaker--sneaker but they still have to have laces, no chuck taylors, basic white tennise shoes but *ugh* to go with a skirt. I was looking at pumas but hard to find white with a only a tiny bit of blue...

Keds actually have some really cute styles now which would fit your requirements. Have you tried Deisels or Sketchers? They make a sleeker looking tennis shoe as well that I have seen in white. I know NewBalance has cross trainer shoes that are white with a little blue in them as well, that is what I wear to work to match my scrubs. You might even try a nursing uniform store. They carry a lot of different styles of white shoe, and surprisingly they are not all of the orthopedic variety...lol

These shoes look almost like runnning shoes. But why blue with a kirt i have to ask that would not look good. Puma is really good on sweaters and sport wwear but not on shoes go with some other brand name like adias or nike.

I was wondering if anybody who had these shoes would recommend them. I have read great things about them but I would like more opinions before I spend $250 on a pair of tennis shoes. I would buy them for the theory that it utilizes muscles that do not normally get used while walking, if anybody can tell me what they think about them please let me know!

Is there any household product that I can use to clean white leather tennis shoes?

If they aren't too dirty, you can just use Dawn and hot water with a toothbrush or nail brush. If they are stained a little, add a small amount of bleach to a cup of water with some Dawn in it. I have always used these methods since my husband owns (and gets dirty) about 7 pairs of leather tennis shoes.

(I one time put a pair in two old pillow cases; one shoe in each.) Use WARM water. Warm dryer ,or no dryer (the Sun is good...), and that's it! Unless the shoes are 'embellished' (I had a pair that had a holographic sort of thing...) they really SHOULD be O.K! SERIOUSLY!!! I've ALWAYS done this -with my shoes and my kids'! Just use COMMON SENSE...it's white leather you said, so be 'gentle'! :)

Do you need seperate shoes for track? I know people who do running and they wear seperate shoes specifically for running (like Saucony or whatever it's called). Converse are always good since they come in such a variety of prints and colors.

Do you need seperate shoes for track? I know people who do running and they wear seperate shoes specifically for running (like Saucony or whatever it's called). Converse are always good since they come in such a variety of prints and colors.

Nike shoes look awesome, but dont offer quite the stability and comfort of the Addidas tennis shoes. I bought some black Puma shoes about 2 months ago, well needless to say, as dry as the weather has been, i had a bunch of grass under the laces. So, i threw them in the washer, as i've ALWAYS washed my tennis shoes and they've looked like new aftwarwards! but these, are soo faded now, i feel like i totally ruined them! Tennis shoes have a wider sole to give you more stability and support. Typically Tennis shoes will also use a stiffer rubber for durability reasons. When playing on concrete or hard court, any tennis shoe should be fine. For clay look for a shoe with a wave-like pattern on the soles. This wave pattern helps reduce the build up of clay on the bottom of your shoes and prevents you from sliding.
On a side note, tennis shoes usually have full leather uppers. This gives you more lateral support. You'll will need this lateral support because you move from left to right while starting and stopping really quickly. If you play tennis with RUNNING shoes you risk the chance of ankle injuries.

My tennis shoes are pretty brand new. Yesterday, when I was skateboarding I accidentally brushed the front of my shoes on concrete. Now, it's a lil bit black and it's bothering me. How can I clean it?

Don't be afraid to wash your tennis shoes just like other laundry. You can air dry them or partially dry them in the dryer with some towels, so they are not so noisy. I walk at least an hour and a half each day (1.30).
Now, my feet are starting to hurt, and my heel and I feel like the tennis shoe is wearing out. After how many months should I throw them out. Be honest in your answer. I can't afford $70 sneakers every few months.
Note: Are they making good sneakers like they used to? I mean they seem to not last long, are just good looking shoes, with a high price tag, and made in places much cheaper for labor purposes.

I spend around $70 on a pair of shoes. My work environment is quite rough on shoes, I normally end up tearing them up before they would have needed to be replaced. Even still, they last about a year or so.

Blisters from uneven ground - is it my tennis shoes or just my feet?
Every time I wear tennis shoes on uneven ground and walk for a while, I get blisters. This happens when I'm hiking or walking around at a camp site. My question is, will hiking shoes/boots fix the problem? Or is it that my shoes are a bit too loose? Or is there some conditioning problem with my feet?
I suspected I needed hiking boots at first, but I know someone who hikes mountains in flip-flops and she seems to do OK.

Blister on feet from tennis shoes? how?
yesterday i wore nike walking sneakers, they are always comfortable. I walked way more than usual around the city, like 45-50 blocks total. when I got home feet were very sore to stand on, and I had 2 sore "whitish" blisters on the bottom of my feet.

So i the best I can suggest is soaking your feet in nice warm epson salt, that make them feel better and to keep them protect while in other shoes put some neosporin and then a cushioning band aid or those blister covers work as well can be found at any drug store

I personally love being barefoot or I wear flip flops. I hate my feet confined in tennis shoes.

I have not worn socks for five years along with any type of tennis shoe, it has been flip flops or barefoot for me since then. My feet suffocate in anything other than flip flops and I like to free my tootsies. While I am a flip flop gal I am now 30% flip flops and 70% barefoot. In summer, winter, autumn, spring I am only in either of these two.
Nothing beats the freedom of being up to just leave footwear behind and enjoy a day of naked feet. Where I am from no one considers me strange for this, and I do it at work too.

depend´s really on how expensive they are . you can soak them in your normal washing powder for 1 hr rinse well or put them in your machine ,but don´t add bleach ,this only burn´s the material. which ever way you choose , here´s a little tick on how they will dry very quickly. it´s not a joke,it work´s . Put normal rice in your shoe´s just enough to cover the bottom of the shoe inside ,then with as many clean clothes stuff them inside the shoe´s leave them like this in a warm place over night . and you will be surprised just how dry they are, try it

Im currently on a hunt for a new pait of tennis shoes and was hoping to get another that can last me longer that 6 months.

How can I mount spurs on my tennis shoes?
For a long time now, I've wanted to put spurs, like those worn by cowboys, on my tennis shoes. I don't really know a whole lot about spurs or how they are mounted, but it seems like they screw into the (wooden?) heel of a boot. I love the little "ching..ching" that spurs make when you walk, and I think it'd be badass to mount some on a pair of regular tennis shoes. Anyone know how I might be able to do this?

Can I use my old Spalding volleyball shoes for playing tennis?
They're an all white shoe, size three. I'm going to start tennis on Monday, and I need Tennis shoes. So I was wondering if my spalding (the brand) volleyball shoes would do the trick?

I wouldn't recommend it either. Only tennis shoes are designed for the lateral movements and toe support. Volleyball shoes are not designed for the type of movements you do in tennis. It's not just a matter of comfort; it's a matter of support as well as avoiding injury (like sprained ankles).

But if you keep playing you might want a tennis shoe cause those volleyball shoes will wear out quickly on a hard court.. Also, if you are seeing a pair of $110 shoes for $40, they probably aren't real. Just use common sense.
Also, tennis shoes aren't exactly a "high-demand" item. I don't think there'd be much market for fake tennis shoes.
