How can you stop tennis shoes from making a squeeking noise when you walk?

My hubby and I both have a pair of tennis shoes that just squeek when you walk. His are very expensive, mine are not, but I'd like to save both pairs. We just can't stand to work in them when they are squeeking and making all eyes turn our way (and away from their work). I'm a teacher, so this is a big deal. I hate to get rid of good shoes.

Thanks,

Tia

Virtually all tennis shoes are made overseas for a few dollars a pair, and quality is frequently a problem. Your shoes are squeaking for one of two reasons: it's either the surface you're walking on, or the shoes are defective. If you get the squeaking on multiple surfaces, return the shoes for a refund. If the retailer won't help you, call the manufacturer's US office and they will certainly be helpful.
Reply:Hmm...

Happened to me last year....due to worn/defective sole.

Change the sole...should solve the problem...

If problem still persists...change to a new pair...
Reply:Don't wear tennis shoes for walking. Save the tennis shoes for when you play tennis. Buy some good walking shoes, like Rockports.
Reply:There is an adhesive "Goop" that comes in a tube and is sold in shoe stores especially for mending sport shoes which have soles that have separated from their uppers. If there is room for flex in your shoe soles, fill the sides and tread with this product. It dries but remains flexible, is clear in color, and might do the trick for you. (It will not be as firm as the tread.) ........... Someone has said that if the tread on your shoe has aged and become harder, it might help to use sand paper to soften the surface. The oils from asphalt may tend to harden some soles. But ask the driveway hoopsters......
Reply:This is just a guess but baby powder might work. If the squeaking is caused by the rubber sole having too much traction, rubbing some baby powder on the sole should lessen the traction.
Reply:buy another good pair which does not make a squeeking noise
