Mildew in tennis shoes!!!!?

My etnies tennis shoes got wet, and since we were in a hotel for a week I was unable to get them in a washer and dryer, and now they have mildew and a unbearable scent, what should I do to get rid of it? Will washing and drying them help?

Mildew in tennis shoes!!!!?
Run them on a small load by themselves with trgular detergean+1/2cup baking soda in the wash water and 1/2 cup vinegar in the rinse. After you dry them into the dryer, put 1/4 cup baking soda in them. That will soak up any more moisture and odors. I do that at the end of the day every day for my kids shoes. They just dump them out before they put them on in the morning.
Reply:Try washing them in hot water with 2cups regular vinegar- then dry in the dryer- then rewash and dry with your choice of washing detergent then dry in dryer with dryer sheets (strong ones from gain work best!) stuffed into the shoes! Hope that helps!
Reply:We have a boot dryer. You set shoes on it, and it will dry them completely and kill the mildew.

If you do not have access to that, then bleach them if you you can. Bleach kills mildew.

If you can%26#039;t bleach them, the key is to get them completely dry, so you can try the dryer, or set them in front of a fan or dehumidifier until they are completely dry.
