How can I bleach out the canvas on white tennis shoes?

My four year old daughter got her brand new white tennis shoes muddy. The leather came out fairly clean, but the fabric parts are a dull tan. Is there something I can spray, to bleach them out white again?

Don't use bleach it will just turn the white canvas a yellowish color. I always use a whitening toothpaste anda old toothbrush and scrub them that way. Also as long as you don't use a quick source of heat (like a dryer) to dry them they won't be completely stained and you should be able to get the mud out.
Reply:Chloroxe is easiest and cheapest.
Reply:I just pitch mine in the washer with hot water and bleach. It also has the benefit of helping to keep the shoes from getting smelly quite so fast! :-)
Reply:Chlorine bleach causes a chemical reaction which yellows canvas. You might try pre-soaking them with 3 tablespoons baking soda dissolved in warm water.
Reply:If your white canvas tennis shoes are looking a little dingy and washing them in the machine is simply not going to do the trick, use white shoe polish to make them look brand, spanking new.
Reply:Hmmmmmm....Bleach! yes bleach...it's the liquid that makes things white.
Reply:use a little bleach on a tooth brush (obviously throw the tooth brush out after use) to clean the canvas

trust its from a sneakerfreaker!
